but education in TX is cheap compared to every other state
Too bad that the University of Dallas is so flipping expensive.

Haha i'm a girl as well. I was just checking :)

If you're looking at the Dallas-Fort Worth area, there are several affordable community colleges there. (Richland, Eastfield, TCC, etc...)

If you're interested in the University of North Texas, I went there and worked on campus all 4 years, and could possibly hook you up with a job if you end up there. I really loved their Catholic campus ministry too.

But all in all, Texas pretty much rocks. I prefer the DFW area, since that's where I always lived, and College Station is great too. ^_^
When it comes to jobs where you only need a high school diploma, assuming you don't have a marketable trade like carpenter or mechanic, there is either low pay, or high risk, or difficult work environment. Since you only plan to do it while going to school, you don't have to do it forever. A lot of security companies will pay for your training period, and then put you to work. That can work around a school schedule. Weiser and Wells Fargo I think both hire in Texas. There are always openings doing things like roofing crews or asphalt crews that have high turn over, especially in summer when Texas gets really hot. You probably wouldn't have any energy left over to take school after doing hot tar all day though.

I can really see MCTS working on the highways smoothing out that black top! :lol_roll:
MCTS.. one other option...

College Station is home to Texas A&M. Now A&M may be out of your budget\time commitment because it is a large university... BUT in the same town is Blinn Community College. That also means you have access to many of the benefits of a college town while not attending A&M. Meaning... cheap stuff and lots of jobs!!

Rent in College station is probably 1/3 or 1/2 of what I pay now in Houston... Seriously I am floored every time I drop my rent in the mail and remember when I paid 1/2 as much for a 10x nicer apartment. There are tons of jobs there specifically for college kids. Since so many leave during the summer or after their 4, 5, err 6 years, there are always openings around. College station is about 1 1/2 hours from downtown houston.

Plus A&M has an amazing Catholic student ministry which many of the Blinn students participate in as well. Very orthodox, very active!
i just got online and requested info for blinn :)

I have to agree. Though I'm in Houston and parents are in Dallas... SA is where I long to be!

My fiance is from there and is dreading living in Houston for a few years. I had to promise her I'd bring her home asap ~ 3-5 years.

I'm hoping to be quite familiar with College Station soon! Have heard so much about it but have yet to visit over there. But now my brother will be attending so I'll be visiting often. :saint:  :D :)) I'm excited! I might go there for my doctorate in a couple of years.

as long as everything works out ok and we get another person to come with us, then me, my best friend, my youth minister, and at least one other person will be going. I'm excited :)

It's much prettier here than in Houston... even with all the hurricane damage.

And there are a lot of young people here @ UTMB, TAMUG, and GC.
