The Bus Station
For those not in the know, Made is an Mtv show in which a lucky teenager is chosen to be transformed into whatever they want to be, i.e. a singer, athlete, or in the case of this guy at my school, a "ladies' man." The idea is to transform him from socially awkward to self-confident, and naturally this is to be achieved through getting a new wardrobe and getting as many girls' phone numbers as possible (seriously -- today the producers had him walk around the library with a sheet of notebook paper and get as many girls as possible to give him their number). He has a "coach" who is guiding him on his journey to awesomeness. He's gone on a couple of dates with girls he didn't even know, selected for him (based on prettiness, of course) by the producers. One of the girls he went on a date with is in one of my classes and all she was talking about was how she's going to be on tv, and of course that's all anyone else is talking about. It's all kinda sad, and I feel bad for Ethan (the guy getting made). It just seems like the whole thing is making fun of him, and now people who would never even look at him are trying to talk to him, yelling stuff like "ladies' man!" in the hallway, in hopes of getting on the cameras which are constantly following him. It just makes me sad to see that this is what this kid, who's gonna be valedictorian, btw, is aspiring to be, and that this is what society is telling him he should be. And it's supposed to be for our entertainment.

rkwright
Maybe I'm a bit on the positive side... but maybe this will give him a bit of self-confidence that will last later in life. That can't be all that bad. Now regarding being made into a "ladies man" - I think it might be ok if Christopher West was his mentor... but knowing MTV, its probably a lesson on how to get into as many beds as possible. rose wrought of iron
Wow. That is sad. did he want to be on that show? Anyway, that's ridiculous - there is so much more to a person than that!! ....argh!! That angers me... Man, I can't imaging my friend having that happen to him... It was the funniest things I ever seen on mtv. I've seen alot of sad depressing stuff on mtv but this was by far the funniest. They also had one episode where they made this highschool kid a rapper. It was cool and he got to meet the game and snoop. Where was made when I was in highschool. I had no girls and my pimp hand was so weak. It still is btw. Resurrexi
I'd be glad for him. If he want's to be a ladies man, he should go for it, just as long as he removes dangers that could lead him into sins against the 6th and 9th Commandments.
