Seven77
i have found surprisingly, that his words affect me when I need them the most... ...like when a dear friend rejected me and stopped talking to me all together, I turned on the television and Joel just happened to be on, speaking about rejection and abandonment... ...I think God uses him just as God uses many people, (even pagans) to bring about some truths... I think Osteen's on the journey, let's pray he reaches the fullness of Truth and finishes the race well...(btw his comments on Catholic Baptism don't suprise me, it's just more ignorance on the part of his upbringing...)
nice answer
Guest KevinSymonds
As a Catholic, I have an immediate knee-jerk reaction against all things "novelty." Osteen sounds like a peddler of novelty. Had no idea he has no seminary training. That would explain why he has so many people flocking to him.
Paladin D
I have a mixed view on Joel Olsteen. I think he's a great and gifted motivational speaker. He is very uplifting and positive, which draws people to him (especially during these times). The problem is however, he isn't exactly fulfilling his pastorial duties. If they do not address issues such as Abortion, Death Penality, and etc., how does one know what a 'Christian' lifestyle is? Believe that Jesus is Lord and just remain positive??? I found this quote particularly disturbing: "My message is not about doctrine" (Joel Olsteen). Again, I think the guy has a good heart and I think he's a fantastic motivational speaker, but he isn't doing what a pastor or a 'shepherd' is suppost to be doing, feeding his sheep. He should just remove his "Pastor" title and tour around the country as a Christian motivational speaker, seriously.
