eagle_eye222001 Posted May 2, 2009 Share Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) So I just watched [url="http://www.hulu.com/watch/47078/national-geographic-channel-inside-a-cult"][i]Inside a Cult[/i] by the National Geographic.[/url] Kinda scary realizing what people will believe and go through. I mean.....I'm not talking about major religions.......just these small groups where one person proclaims themselves as Jesus and then 50 people give up their lives to follow this person to generally an isolated area where they live and their leader proclaims the end of the world is just around the corner. I mean.....wow. It's scary to realize that people can be brainwashed to such an extent. Watching a documentary had me laughing at times when the leader straight face tells the camera he is God........and then their were scary times when they tell you how much abuse is going on and you see the kids who are brainwashed speaking on camera.....scary. The documentary is rated PG but honestly, I found some parts pretty disturbing. Not easy to watch some parts of it. It's about 45 minutes long and fairly interesting. In a cult, we see a devil with a smile on his face with the outlook of nice innocent person. He has a big family now and still sees my grandparents, but rarely. Thankfully some of his grown kids were able to get out of the cult and my grandma thinks that my uncle himself might be looking to get out soon, so I've been praying for that to happen. (He's a PhD in Psychology as well as a priest). He said he saw some pretty disturbing things going on in these cults... Prayers for your uncle, Margaret.
