Did anyone used to watch this show. I never knew it had anything to do with environmentalism. I just thought it was a regular cartoon.

He's our hero!
Gonna take pollution
Down to zero!

Loved it, eventhough it was pretty clear that the little Indian one with the monkey was a homosexual.

Yea, I watched it when I was little. It just might have been the lamest cartoon of all time. What a great show to make fun of! Has it been released to dvd yet? I'd like to make fun of it some more. I watched it a little bit on youtube a while back. Funny stuff!

I had a thread on this in the lame board a short time ago.

:lol_roll: At first I typed "lamb" instead of lame. :lol_roll:

Captain Planet is pro contraception and anti Religion.

I used to love the cartoon though.

Now I use it in class as an example of propaganda.

I don't remember them explicitly endorsing Artificial Birth Control, but there were some episodes I remember that subtly (and not so subtly, too) put forward the "moral-of-the-story" that large families have a damaging effect on the environment due to over-consumption. And of course, they didn't advocate NFP, and so obviously, ABC was the implied solution, I suppose.

Here are the episode summaries of two episodes I remember watching. Perhaps there were more, but I'm not sure.
Season 1, Episode 21: Population Bomb

In a dream about overpopulation, the Planeteers (especially Wheeler) learn a valuable lesson about the world's population and its effects on the environment. Wheeler dreams about a place called Miceland, an island run by humanoid mice, which is the epitome of what can happen to the world if its population and overconsumption isn't slowed down. This dream proves useful in its unintended purpose: changing Wheeler's attitude towards having a large family.

Season 5, Episode 11: The Numbers Game

It's Wheelers Birthday, and a trip to Coney Island is delayed due to a eco emergency, so instead they go to an Eco Park. Wheeler, who is tired, falls asleep on a tunnel of love trip with Linka, and dreams he is a father with 6 kids, and one on the way, and Hope Island is destroyed by over consumption, and the Planeteers and Captain Planet don't care anymore.
