I just had someone call me pro-rape because Catholicism is against abortion. Any idea how to reply?

If you can speak calmly you can explain that Catholics are not pro-rape but we do not punish an innocent baby for the wrong doings of another. It probably won't make any difference to them or they'll probably say whatever. After that, just pray for them.

Chances are the individual does not believe the child to BE a child until X amount of months in the womb. I think you have to approach this scientifically.

Without cracking up and asking if they are serious?

Their question is illogical, therefore point out the illogicalness and don't answer because there is no good answer to an illogical question.

Because we all know abortion prevents rape.....

Ask them how that follows?

Basically they will have to rephrase it.

Given that they asked that question in the first place, I would not expect your point to be understood by them so I would question their question and then make a final statement and move on.

And by the way, any woman who is raped needs to seek immediate medical treatment; that would include a D & C, well before conception occurs.

Um, conception happens long before a raped woman could get to a hospital and have a D&C performed.
