My Sister Is Awesome

I am (ever so slowly) gathering up the stuff for my upcoming convent entrance, and I need to bring my own set of Liturgy of the Hours books. Which I have, but... mine are in Dutch, and the community is in England and prays in English (and people tend to think you're choking when they hear spoken Dutch, which would probably unnerve the retreatants).

And now Puella Paschalis is giving me hers, and she'll be switching to the... what's its name? Diurnal? In Latin and English, in any case.

Of course, it's a sekrit ploy to have me thinking of/praying for her every time we pray the LotH.
But it made me bawl in any case.

So I just wanted you to know that my sister is the awesomest - with excuses to all other sisters, but I'm sure you'll get over it in time ;)

Thank you grote zus :)

Well there's not much point in your shelling out over a hundred quid when I have a perfectly good set...which God willing I'll never use anyway :)

Alsjeblieft lief zusje :)

European.

We used to use loaves and fish but then some geezer started pulling them out of thin air and almost crashed the economy.

One of our common points: humour that's as dry as a very dry dry thing.

Once this arrives at my house:

VA can tick the "Office books" off her list :)

It's not like I was going to sell them. What Dutch person is going to want the 3 volume Liturgy of the Hours in English? The Dutch version (minus Readings) is one version and costs less than half mine did.

I do have the Dutch version too though :ninja: I'm sure I'll find someone who'll want it when my time comes.

Maybe the Blue Sisters will want it?

Wow. That's great!
It's on my list of things I need to buy when I return to the US. Along with a very heavy winter coat.... which I need to find.... during the summer....
Anyway! Congrats on your new LOTH! And PP, great idea: now she HAS to pray for you!

First, PROFICIAT on your upcoming entrance! Thank you for responding to His call--and in the meantime, entertaining us all here on PM :)

Secondly, it sounds like you do indeed have an awesome sister. I have also have a sister, a younger one, whom I love very much. On the advice of my former spiritual director I am bribing her with gifts so she doesn't kill me when I go to college away from home.

Although we wouldn't have your future to be any different, you two are going to be missed!

You should have seen the blog discussion where we compared how long the Great Silence lasted in our respective convents in the mornings. That is, how long we're not supposed to make any sound (except singing God's glorious praises, o'course).

Of course I, being the incessant chatterbox, have the longer Great Silence :annoyed:

But then (Dv) I get the cooler music, Mass earlier in the day, and the..er..joy of living with the same bunch of women for the rest of my life without being able to bust out when it gets too much.

VA has the easy peasy task of converting everyone :lol_roll:

"Things even out." <--- VA quote.

Please God make it happen soon!! :topsy:
