Funny, toward the end they say that those against gay marriage have a slim lead. 54 to 44 percent are the numbers they give. I think 10% is a significant lead. Didn't they say that oboma won by a wide margin. I think those numbers were similar if I recall.

With all the upheavals in California, the people of Maine may be hesitant to support an effort to overturn the law. Intimidation is a great way to usurp the political process.

Been thinking about this a lot lately. One of the things that nutritionists tell dieters that they can't put any food off limits entirely because that will just make you want it more. Maybe if we quit telling them they can't get married (I'm talking legally, not in the Catholic Church), they won't want to. I remember talking to a gay couple who had been together over 25 years, and asked if they had the right to marry legally, would they. Both answered no. They said that over half of all marriages end in divorce, so it wasn't really working too well for straight couples.

Maybe if we just make marriage in the church purely sacramental, and stay out of the legal/marriage license side of things, then that side can't say we are discriminating against them anymore. Take away their ammunition. I don't know, maybe it would allow us to regain some bargaining chips on other issues. As long as they can be viewed as the underdogs, how do we win?

Maine is being a copycat. I don't believe this trend will last. I believe America will dig in their heels and say no. Same-sex marriage may have won a couple small skirmishes, but they have ways to go, and I believe and trust that the tide will be turned.

It's not like Americans are really supporting this gay marriage thing. Even CNN is saying that Americans are slightly against it overall. Remember CNN is a left wing news outlet so their numbers are usually a big rigged :D

I guess the reassuring thing is, there are 29 states that have constitutional amendments prohibiting homosexual marriage, which outnumber states that do have it. The states that now allow homosexual marriage are those which never had amendments against it to begin with.

The scary thought is that someday Christians may really be killed for refusing to accept abomination of so-called "homosexual marriage."

I just thought I'd share this with everyone. Bishop Malone of the diocese of Maine came out with a very good statement about what happened.

Do you think the government could ever force a priest to perform a marriage ceremony on a homosexual couple?
