Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Has anyone ever felt(mid term, multiple short terms,or an extended time) that the weight of past sins and/or present are so overbearing that it like your soul has been put in a wine press and being squashed...and seemingly that no one seems willing enough to lift the cross off your shoulders, pick you up and continue walking while sharing the weight of the cross? If so please i need some sound christian advice. unsure.gif And also why sometimes can we be so childish when pertaining to apologising to a brother or sister that we almost have to be dragged to there room(where there sitting lonely and crying) to apologise? And are there any ideas on how i approach people that may feel i talk to much about the bible without encroaching on them or rejecting JESUS? The crushing burden can be the weight of your sins which is relieved by the freedom of confession. When you confess, Jesus relieves you of the burden as the priest absolves you of your sins. No mere friend etc can do this because only the clergy has the God-given authority can do this, why do you think psychology is so popular - because people have forgotten confession to God in the Church. Other people can counsel you, pray for you, and even suffer for you, but only confession can relieve you. We are childish when it comes to apologizing both because we suffer the sin of pride that we could be wrong and always want the rules to apply to everyone but us. What is your motivation in approaching people about the scriptures?
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
PAX, Yes thankyou i totally agree that absolution is performed by the clergy and that psychological counsel may ease the concience but there is a far deep root that needs to be removed within the confessional...That is why i feel the confeitor(i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and what i have failed to do,and ask that you my brothers and sisters, something something[ sorry i get it right at mass i'm still learning these things and in the parishes i attend this is said rarely) should besaid before every single sunday service for those whom don't understand the importance of confession as at least a recognition of sin and not just the surface of these weeds that can sometimes choke out a sappling of faith, and i feel we loose many prodigals due to this. And not the confeitor as a supplement to confession but something that increases the awareness of our own sinfulness and the need for confession.I also feel the baptisimal promise needs to also be said on the occasion at sunday mass as well ( I reject satan and all glamours of evil, etc etc , sorry also this is said so rarely that i get it mostly at mass but can't recite it otherwise)Once again not as a substitute for confession but as a recognition that sin exists and it needs to be uprooted at a deeper level than a clear concience. But as to why do i preach scripture, although i am no authority on teaching i believe there is a deep need in discussing scripture and seperating weeds from wheat in the way we think about scripture or feel as lay faithful( as one body but also as different parts with somewhat better understanding on different scriptures) that we may take what we have found to be wheat to an elder or priest together that he may remove also the husks from the wheat and we are left with only the wheat, and or alternatively say well you are way off centre and need togo and re-examine what your reading, feeling and thinking. And although yes there is in one way a personal relationship with JESUS but there also on a greater scale is the brethran relationship with JESUS. Jesus did not send his disciples out on ther own , and nore did paul walk alone but took other bretheran with him.And not just for out for a movie or a summer dip at Wet and Wild water park, although these things are fun on occasion as well. I feel we need to gather in his name socially at each others houses on hills and mountains at rivers, parks many wonderful created places to indulge in the lord with each other . "wherever any two or more are gathered in my name i shall be there" more than just at church, and sure the structured groups are wonderful but also we need to take innitiative and gather other places to speak about the bible and seperate weeds from the wheat in what where sold and told,so as to have a deep unity within parishes.( esp. single christians). GOD love us Amen
