Enterprise happened before Jim Kirk's dad got killed.
It does impact Enterprise, because Enterprise follows the events from First Contact, but now that the TNG universe is altered --
and Vulcan being destroyed is a very big change indeed
-- who knows if the events in First Contact happened. Did the Borg still go back in time? Who knows? Did Sisko still go back to the early 21st century as recounted in DS9? Who knows? Was Sisko even born? Who knows? To paraphrase what Hermione Granger said in the Prisoner of Azkaban, "awful things happen to Star Trek producers who meddle with time." Saint Therese
I agree that it was a well made, enjoyable film. there were a few issues, but nothing big enough to really detract from the quality of the film. I thought the cameo by Wynona Ryder was interesting. I would love to see more Star Trek films with these actors.

Archaeology cat
If I'm not mistaken, Damon Lindelof has already signed on to work on the script for the next one. Or so he said on the Lost podcast a few weeks ago.

Ancient Bajorans believed in the "Prophets"
The "Prophets" could have been destroyed for all we know, and many of the characters from later Star Treks may no longer exist (especially Vulcan characters). This is a reboot after all, and that means that every event in which characters from after the birth of Kirk may have gone back in time or done anything else prior to his birth changes events of the future (and even the past). I'm not big on reboots, and after viewing the new film a couple more times, I am disappointed with it, because its story itself is rather insipid. Innocent
Anyway, with the timeline messed with thoroughly, the big question is: what's next? Does Star Trek get reborn in new movies with these actors??? I am very excited about that possibility,
I would be a bit more cautious with the enthusiasm. All this reminds me of the ever-increasingly convoluted retcons that have become a regular feature in the DC and Marvel Comics universes. I hope the Star Trek universe doesn't go down that route.
