Torn

My feelings are so scattered I have to use bullets to get them all out. Here it goes!

- She responded truthfully to a loaded question during the pagent. Good for her!

- Her answer was not very eloquent, well thought out, or diplomatic (which a pagent queen should be).

- She abandoned her platform to go on talk shows to "defend" traditional marriage, but she did not she never fully explained the biblical/ Christian view on the issue beyond stating, "I was raised to believe marraige is between a man a woman." If she wanted to hang her hat on traditional marriage I feel that she owed it to herself and the rest of the traditional marriage crowd to be a good spokesman...but thats just my humble opinion and nothing more.

- These topless photos would never have come out if she had answered Perez's question by saying, "You can't help who you love." Is she being targeted for her answer or for her apparent hypocrisy?

- She refused to put her pagent goals ahead of her faith when she was on stage, so why does she now explain away these topless photos by saying, "I am a model and models pose in bathingsuits and sometimes topless." Uh yea... but not models who have written CHRISTIAN in bold letters on their soapboxes.

Ok thats it. Maybe this should be on the lame board. I just felt like a rant. Am I alone?

she's getting shredded because she's a hypocrite. The enemies of traditional marriage are using her to attack all proponents of traditional marriage as a bunch of homophobic hypocrites. She obviously does not value Christian morality. So, it could be true that she just simply hates homosexuals...

There were new pictures releasesd today that were taken last year. I think she said she was reborn in high school.

It's a porn contest and there are rules against posing topless? It must be a money thing--having profitable pictures outside the ability of the porn contest rulers to exploit.

Haha no there is no such rule. that is why she kept her crown. But the faith that she professes DOES have rules that discourage one from exposing one's breasts.

Modesty in general... being nude ain't the half, what ever happened to the idea of "women shall be saved through childbearing if they continue in holiness, modesty and love"?

Her statements at the pageant and her topless photos are both forms of free speech, or used to be.

Didn't Vanessa Williams lose her crown because of nude photos? Have they changed the rules?

I think Vanenssa Williams was Miss American not Miss USA. And even if she was Miss USA, the organization was not owned by Donald Trump at the time.

As for free speach, I am not arguing that she did not have the right to answer the way she did or to pose topless. But the later did not exibit prudent judgement.

You are definitely right about that. I don't care how much money you are offered, if you wouldn't want your grandmother, or your grandchildren to see it, don't do it.

I saw her on fox news today and she said her breast was exposed becasue it was "windy" out and the pic shouldn't have been released or something. lol

I think it took a lot of courage to say defend marriage knowing that it is no the PC thing to do. The majority of Americans agree with her and yet the PC police have been attacking her non stop. It can't be easy for her and I am glad that she continues to stand.

Yeah, she had to know being from California that her answer was going to have an impact.

Regardless of the immodest photos (intended or not), I think she was honest about her answer to a very "hot topic" and I applaud her. The backlash has been terrible. I feel sorry for her and pray for her, too.
