Brother Adam
There was a big 8th grade party in our gym tonight with a DJ. I was complaining with the other old people that the music was "too loud" and needed to be turned down and how awful the "kids music is these days" because in "my day" the music was "so much more reasonable" (which really isn't true, just the music I happened to listen to which was my parents classic rock). I've grown old. Make it go away.

CatherineM
They don't know it's too loud because the average 13 year old has a 70 year old's hearing. When my oldest was signing up for the Navy the recruiter said that of graduating seniors 50% were ineligible because of weight, and 25% because of bad hearing. He had basic ear buds in, and I could hear his music loud and clear. I had my over the ear headphones on as well, but I keep them low enough to have a conversation. I mostly wear them because I still have trouble walking a straight line without zig-zagging or stutter stepping, and I find the music cadence helps me remember to walk right. Actually, whenever I go back to the US I spend the first few days in sensory overload because of the noise.
Azriel
When I think about getting older, I wonder if I'll be sitting on the porch, rocking listening to the music of my youth. Then, again, it just doesn't seem right to have white hair and listening to Duran Duran and Bon Jovi.
