Proposal To Try To End Communion In The Hand

On May 29, 2009, it will be the 40th anniversary of Memoriale Domini.

Memoriale Domini is the instruction that Pope Paul VI released on May 29th 1969, allowing Communion in the hand where the abuse was present.

I propose that on May 29th, Catholics around the world send letters, faxes, and emails to the Vatican urging the Holy Father to remove the indult of Communion in the hand and return to reception on the tongue only for the entire Latin Church.
The Vatican might not pay attention to one or two letters, but they will notice thousands of emails from Catholics around the world.

I urge everyone to get the word out to as many Catholics as they can, to mail and email the Pope on May 29th asking for removal of the indult for Communion in the hand. Spread the word on the internet on other Catholic forums, blogs, and websites.

The Holy Father's mailing address:
His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI
Apostolic Palace
00120 Vatican City

The Holy Father's email address:
benedictxvi@vatican.va

I just used the one from the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See's website. Would you care to share this other address? :)

How about lobbying God with a load of prayed Rosaries? And then send the Holy Father a greetings card for each one prayed? :)

...sorry....it wouldn't be prudent of me.... it was given with trust that I wouldn't share it with anyone else but my Superiors and my Sisters...

but now that I'm out in the world, it has it's privileges..... :saint:

It seems prideful and strange to think I know better than the Holy Father. If he believed it was an abuse to recieve on the hand then we would be recieving on the tongue alone. I trust his wisdom in this matter... he doesn't need my 2 cents.

According to Time magazine there was a huge movement to write petitions to the Holy Father for the definition of the Assumption. In fact, this movement was even given a blessing by the Holy Father.

I was talking about the rosary thing, but yours is interesting too. And to save you passing judgment, I receive exclusively on the tongue.

I assumed that you did. Most people with your views on liturgical music seem to prefer Communion on the tongue ;)

And, really, you didn't think I'd judge you, did you? I'm not like that at all.

How is this not commiting the sin of pride? Are you not suggesting that we what's better for catholic's than God does? If God only wanted communion on the toungue, would he not speak to the Pope so it would be changed?
