cmaD2006
I *think* I know the answer but I figure I should double check ... On Ascension Thursday (which in my diocese is a Holy Day of Obligation, that is it hasn't been moved to the following Sunday) I have a funeral mass to attend ... would attending that mass count instead of attending the Ascension Thursday liturgy? Thanks in advance.
Thy Geekdom Come
There is a specific reason you are to attend the Ascension Mass. The celebration of the Ascension, together with the readings specific to the solemnity and the specific catechesis provided in that homily, cannot be done at a funeral Mass. Yes, the obligation is to attend the Mass of the Solemnity of the Ascension.
