Brother Adam
I am creating a book(let) to supplement all Catholic religious education programs called "What Every Catholic Needs to Know". This may be prayers, Bible passages, doctrine, sacramental information, etc. So my question to the phorum is... What does every Catholic need to know? Resurrexi
1284 In case of necessity, any person can baptize provided that he have the intention of doing that which the Church does and provided that he pours water on the candidate's head while saying: "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." RemnantRules
The Most Blessed Sacrament Jesus Christ founding the Catholic Church on Peter The Magestrium of the Church The Apostles Creed The Traditions of the Church The Holy Bible- How the Bible was put together, by who, and when it came to the Bible that it is today. 10 Commandments 7 Sacraments 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit Some other odd things to non-Catholics or Catholics learning their faith: Why we have Holy Water in Churches Why we use candles, incense, and bells "smells and bells" if you will. I could list more but I'll refrain. I'll leave with this (and I'm having to paraphrase here b/c I don't have my Bible right in front of me) but when someone asked Jesus what is the greatest commandment. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, with your soul, and with all your strength. And you should love your neighbor as yourself. This booklet is meant to be used for 8 years in a catechism program as a supplement. I'm also pulling stuff from the Roman Missal's "How to be a better Catholic." The whole idea is this resource will be free.
