Moral Relativism T-shirt

"Fight Moral Relativism" strikes me as too obvious. I would prefer something like "Topple the Dictatorship of Relativism." And I don't like the gas mask concept, it's too grim. A more hopeful or inspiring image would work better.

I explained a little more in my previous post. It looks like a shirt that a rock group obsessed with death would make. It doesn't inspire me to fight moral relativism, it makes me wonder what's the deal with this grim image.

Yeah, I see your point.

I just think it looks really cool.

A counter to your point though would be that the image of the crucifix is very grim as well--but we look at that very grim image and see hope and life.

True, but when you see a crucifix, you associate it with Christ. A crucifix is immediately recognized as a sign of love and sacrifice. But there is nothing noticeably Christian or virtuous about the gas mask image. It just looks like a gas mask with wings. If I saw someone wearing this shirt, my first impression would be that the gas mask image is supposed to be some kind of dark angel. The grimness of the gas mask image completely overshadows the message to "fight moral relativism." The image and the message should work together. The focus of the message is not on moral relativism in itself, but rather, the focus is on calling people to fight moral relativism. The image should inspire them to do what the message says, to fight moral relativism.

Maybe it'll inspire people to ask what the shirt means, providing an easy avenue into talking about one's faith. I don't know.

On a T-shirt design, function should take a backseat to form. I think the design is cool. Maybe it will get people to talk, maybe not. Either way you have a cool looking shirt. It's a win-win.

I think wording the message less obviously would be a better way to get people to think. The phrase "dictatorship of relativism," for example, is an amazing phrase (and a phrase used by the Holy Father). People would have to think about how can relativism be a dictatorship; it seems like an incongruous phrase. With a more inspiring image, their eyes would be drawn to the inspiration of the image, while their mind would be drawn to the meaning of the message. With the gas mask image, however, I think their eyes and their mind are drawn to the grimness of the image, and the message is lost.

i love it.

the only thing i'd like to see in phatmass shirts is more risks with graphic placement. i love the shirts that have the graphics tilted and offset.

i'd also love to see a navy blue shirt with white lettering made available! ;)

but i love the shirt. and that's what you asked about, right?

oh but if i had to suggest something i would say i like jason's idea of a quote on the back (maybe towards the bottom instead of at the shoulder like everyone else; maybe down one side) and era's about using the phrase the pope used. then you could use a longer quote for the block on the back.

but what do i know? :idontknow:

 Well....

On one hand, the message rocks. On the other hand, the graphic doesn't do it for me. Now this is just me...I think the graphic in artistic terms is cool, but it doesn't look like something I'd wear. I'm 33 and female, not overly girly, but this is a little too harsh for me.

I REALLY would like a shirt with that message...mayhap you could make an alternate, less Mad Max-ish one for us uncool people out here?

dUSt, this is cool. You should design a whole phatmass line.
