SponsaChristi
When I receive on the tongue I have my hands folded, answer "Amen", close my eyes and open my mouth. The priests always knew what to do... (My problem is when I can´t escape the eucharistic ministers - they always seem to want you to receive on the hand. Therefore I avoid sitting on the "wrong side" of the church - or I change during distribution of holy communion. Once a woman even laid the host ob my folded hands - I can´t tell you how shocked I was!!!!!) Edited June 7, 2009 by SponsaChristi

Theologian in Training
Just like this In all seriousness, just fold them against your chest, open your mouth, stick out your tongue, and we know. TeresaBenedicta
Hands folded, as others have said. Although, if I find myself receiving from an extraordinary minister, I will hold my hands behind my back. Simply to avoid that awkwardness of extraordinary ministers trying to force me to receive in the hand.
SponsaChristi
That´s a good possibility... if there is a time when I have no other choice, I´ll try that...
johnnydigit
i fold my hands in prayer. when there isn't someone using a paten in the OF, i've thought about opening my hands as the host is placed on my tongue, in case it falls, especially if it is an EMHC who isn't as experienced. thoughts? He accidently dropped the Host as he was trying to give me Communion. Somehow my softball reflex kicked in and I was able to catch the Host. The little altar boy holding the paten got "a look" from Father for not doing his job very well.

It was probably my fault because it was an ordination and I was very emotional. There was fear of, but no actual, falling. Mortified me, though. Unless you count [s]tripping[/s]making some unintentional, yet elegant, steps out of the line. Although I do think having liturgical dancers receive on the tongue would be profitable to their liturgical views.

Although, if you really want to be obvious, you can receiving while kneeling, but that should only be done if you're receiving from a priest
Why? I'm kneeling before Jesus, not to the priest. Am interested in your perspective.
Ash Wednesday
While I don't kneel at my regular parish and there is a church I go to that has a rail where I do kneel (and I prefer this), when I am standing, I fold my hands and hold them almost straight down as far away from the priest's hands and the Eucharist as possible. Otherwise it's almost like the priest goes straight for my hands. Almost everyone at the local church takes it by the hands so I have to make it very clear I take it on the tongue.
