IrishSalesian
I am home from the seminary on vacation and I went to Mass at my home parish today. I was giving thanks to God beacuase it has been 22 years to the day since my Baptism, June 7, 1987. While I was praying, i noticed that the baptismal font was out of place to where it normally was. I was happy to see this because it meant that their would be baptism(s) today. So when Mass started I noticed two infants in the front. And at the beginning the priest kissed the Altar and went down to where the infants were sitting and said, " Today I claim you for Christ" I was overjoyed with happiness. Like the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up, and i had chills down my spine. I was happy to witness this joyous day! Just wanted to share that with all of you. God Bless, Adam

Nihil Obstat
I love baptisms during mass. We have one about every month and a half. I love the "I claim you for Christ" bit. Powerful. Only thing I don't like is that we've got a large stationary font waaaaay in the corner of the church, so you can't really see that part of it. VeniteAdoremus
Our parish priest holds up the baby and yells "behold our new parishioner!" after the ceremony. He already did this WAY before The Lion King. They should pay him royalties. He didn't do it to me, but then again, I was 15 and came up to his nose. We use St. James shells with the name of the baby and date of the baptism burned into it, and they are laid at feet of the mosiac of Our Lady of Peace, which is opposite to the big crucifix with the remembrance crosses around it. I like the balance Baptisms during Mass are the best.
Resurrexi
In the extraordinary form one may not celebrate Baptism during the Mass; therefore, I'm against Baptism being administered during the celebration of the ordinary form of the Mass as well. Because Baptisms are allowed during Mass.

He said that when receiving Communion in the OF, he doesn't say "Amen", because he doesn't do so (and the rubrics prohibit it) in the EF. You replied to him that because responding with "Amen" is in the rubrics of the OF, he should do so.
Resurrexi
[quote name='IrishSalesian' post='1886244' date='Jun 8 2009, 09:05 AM']Welll, you are entitled to your opinion, but are you going against what the Church teaches? Additionally, I never claimed Baptism during Mass to be illicit; I merely said that, in my opinion, it should not be celebrated in Mass. I prefer that it be celebrated outside of Mass. In the ordinary form, there is no option to say or not to say "Amen" after the minister of Communion says "Corpus Christi". It is required. This is a nice thread. Why are you being so critical? The Church is CLEARLY not against Baptism being celebrating during the Mass. Therefore, chill out. Mercy me
Baptisms in mass are the best. I think it is the natural place for it as a new member is brought into the community. It only seems natural that the whole community should share in the celebration.
