Looks like a golden opportunity for Hassan to save the day

They are a religious body, a group of Priests. The tend to focus on education and as I recall take a special vow of loyalty to the Pope. They were started by St. Ignatius of Spain and were major in fighting Protestantism. They used to have a reputation comparable to anti-Semitic conspiracy theories regarding supposed Jewish cabbalism. For example in Dostoevsky you often see derogatory references to Jesuits as some sort of external subversive (like Aloysha's discussion with Ivan, or scattered throughout Crime and Punishment), cabalistic force often seen as working for the Pope. They have been suppressed several times throughout their history and then reestablished

as I recall, but for more accurate information look here.
