Congratulations, even though they beat my Flyers. It was a fun series to watch between Detroit and Pittsburgh, glad it lasted seven games.

Detroit won last year against you guys, now it was your turn. :)

I visit Pittsburgh in Jan.... a week later, they win the Superbowl.

I move to Pittsburgh in May, and 26 days later, they win the Stanley Cup.

Coincidence?

I think not.

Those two saves within the remaining 3 seconds of the game were amazing, particularly the last one where Marc-Andre Fleury (goalie) shuffled to his right and then dove in desperation to block the second shot.

What a game. Great comeback attempt by Detroit too.

I would say Pennsylvania is doing fairly well, sports wise:

- Philadelphia Phillies win the World Series in October 2008 (breaking a 25 year curse where none of the four major sports teams have won a major championship since '83).

- Pittsburgh Steelers win the Superbowl in the 2008/2009 season (Feb '09).

- Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup in June of 2009.

Of course these happen within the span of two years (seperate seasons), but still worth noting.

UM.... YEAH. HOLY CRIZZAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After this year and all the garbage the Pens put up with as the "winning losers"

YES.

I have waited for this for SIXTEEN YEARS. SIXTEEN YEARS.
I CRIED with GENO when he got that Cup. I love Sidney, but my Geno deserved every bit of Conn Smythe goodness.

I LOVE THIS TEAM.

What I do know:

Fleury took World Juniors demons from 2004 or whatever year that was..... and flushed that down the toilet.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Therrien had bubble gum. Bylsma didn't. Basically.

Malkin was an easy choice for Conn Smythe.

That as an incredible run from the Pens. srsly.

I remember both cups from 91 and 92 but this for me was like, one of the best seasons I've ever lived through as a fan because it was so crazy. For whatever reason the Pens do better when they're having one of those "Dracula Seasons" where everything is going wrong but they just refuse to die. This same thing happened in the early 90s both seasons as well. Not so much when they won the President's trophy. They just do better under adversity. A lot more nerve-wracking for the fans but there are your Pittsburgh Penguins.

What I love about Malkin getting the Smythe is that the poor guy is always ignored. With all the talk about Crosby and Ovechkin, he's always an afterthought and that's pretty unfair. He doesn't like the spotlight but I guess he didn't do himself any favors in that regard these playoffs. :pimp:
