I hate hockey. maybe cause I live in TX and no one watches it. football and baseball are king here. and soccer is becoming more popular with this flood of mexican immigrants coming in.[/quote] Hey you - out of hit thread! This is a hockey-party thread. And those other games aren't even sports in my book so gnah!
cmotherofpirl
375,000 people for the parade, not a bad turn out, considering some people actually went to work today...

dominicansoul
Congrats Pens fans! It was a great series! (Hopefully, in a year, crosby will have matured enuff to actually shake hands with the good guys who lost)
VoTeckam
What was with all the booing during the cup and mvp presentations? Was the crowd booing the penguins or Betmann? I thought it was pretty classless. Edited June 16, 2009 by VoTeckam

I would say it was pretty classless though.

I thought Lidstrom gave a pretty fair assessment of it, and kudos to Hossa for sticking up for his old captain, but that handshake sequence was hasty and poorly organized. Detroit was itching to get off the ice, some of Crosby's teammates probably should have waited for Crosby before going up to shake their hands. He shook hands last year, why wouldn't he do that this year when it's easier to do as a winner? Crosby did shake hands with a lot of Red Wings players, including the coach -- but by the time he got to the line, Lidstrom and a few of them were already off the ice. Last year the Penguins gave the Red Wings plenty of time to celebrate, a lot of Pens fans feel that Detroit didn't do the same and were too quick to shake hands and sore losers for making it an issue. I don't know if it's all that one-sided and simple either way. Nobody will see eye to eye on it but people should cut Crosby some slack and stop acting like he did anything on purpose. He's the youngest captain ever to hoist the cup and a human being but people seem to forget this and will go to great lengths to find some reason to bash him. It's not like he gave everyone the middle finger and skated off to the locker room. I can't even believe it generated the news it did. As far as Detroit's crowd booing -- they were actually booing Bettman. A Wings fan told me that regardless of who won the cup, Bettman would get a lot of boos because he's apparently not very popular there. But then again, you have to wonder just how loud those boo-birds might have been about Bettman if it were the home team receiving the hardware on the ice instead of the Penguins.
