Been A Priest For Just Over A Week

I just wanted to drop a quick note to thank my PM phamily for all of their prayers and support over the last years. I've been rather absent from the phorum in recent days due to planning for ordination, but I hope to be a little more active in the future!

I've been a priest for just over a week (ordained 6 June) and it's amazing! My bishop assigned me as an associate pastor to three parishes...

St. Peter, Montgomery, Indiana
All Saints, Cannelburg, Indiana
Sts. Peter and Paul, Petersburg, Indiana

I'm living in Montgomery for the time-being. It's difficult to describe the assignment...though I'm technically the associate pastor at all three places, I'm the only priest who will be active at the third parish. I'll be saying their Masses, baptizing their babies, burying their dead, &c. It's also a rather exciting place in some respect - it's a VERY anti-Catholic area (the Catholic population of the parish is just over 2%), so there will be some work for the Legion of Mary to do when I found it! In effect, I have all the responsibilities of a pastor without actually being a pastor.

Pray for me in another respect - it's a poor parish, and the building really needs some beautifying. It was renovated back in the 70s and hasn't been cared for since.

I start Wednesday, and I can't wait! :lol_roll:

Add the EF Mass to your third parish! That'll help boost morale :D[/quote]

We are also in a poor parish that needs upkeep. We hunted for some retired handymen/contractor types, and offered them tax receipts for the donation of their time. We get building supplies from the Habitat for Humanity resale store at a discount, and paint free from the eco-dropoff facility.

Brother Adam

Congratulations on your ordination Father! It is truly an occasion of joy to see so many here become religious and clergy.
