homeschoolmom
HSdaughter is going to camp for a week tomorrow. It's her first time away from us for that long. She's excited, but nervous. If you think of it, please say a little prayer for her. The sisters that run the camp are great. Thanks.
CatherineM
You bet. Some of my best times in childhood were spent at camp.

BG45
Will do. I remember my first camp experience for a week...Camp Cowen, the American Baptist Convention's summer camp. There was a huge line of kids at the payphone (no cell service) calling home. I was playing ping pong and such and had a blast! So I hope your daughter has a good experience like I did. (Never the less, it's always awesome to come home to your loving family.)
homeschoolmom
That nervousness will evaporate once she starts having a good time
Yeah, I know... that's what I told her. The unfortunate part (as far as I can see) is that the camp starts in the evening (7 pm). So, she'll just get there, hear some introductory information, maybe play a game and then go to bed. She is most worried about not being able to sleep well and I suspect she will have trouble-- especially the first night.
juchu
Is there no way for her to come a little earlier? If you are driving here there anyways, you might could go a little bit earlier, walk around, meet others that have also arrived earlier? So that way she at least already knew somebody with whom to sit at the beginning. And even if that is not possibly, I am sure the sisters and other ppl organizing are aware of such situations and will have games or something to get to know each other. homeschoolmom
Yeah, we're sort of making a day trip out of it and meandering over there early. She knows several girls who will be there, she's just anxious about the nights. I also told her the sisters are very nice and know what they are doing. homeschoolmom
I'm bumping this to ask for prayer. There were tornadoes last night in Southern MN (east of where she is) and they are talking more tornadic weather/severe thunderstorms in the area where she is from mid-afternoon through the night. Please pray for safety for everyone and that they would not be afraid... and that the sisters would use good judgement in getting the girls to safety, if need be. Thanks. CatherineM
Prayers. Having gone to summer camp in tornado alley, it's something the camps have procedures for. We all used to hunker down for the night in the dining lodge. It was big and strong, and we all sang songs and make it like a huge sleep over in someone's basement.
