Looks like they will need them. I hear one of the reasons the host was placed on the tongue was to prevent this sort of thing. But you got to wonder, how many of those people actually believe in the "powers" of the devil and how many are just young hooligans getting their thrills by breaking the law and having fun? I'm just weirded out.
It's too bad Paul VI did away with the minor orders of porter and exorcist, as well as the subdiaconate.

Did minor order exorcists go on to be priests, or did they stay in the minor orders, and if they did move on to ordination, were they still officially exorcists? In any case I think having exorcists be ordained priests would be most effective. Supposedly about 90% of getting rid of demonic influence is up to the person, not the exorcist. They have to pray, change their lives, make use of the Church's sacraments, and so on. Being able to hear confessions would help the process a lot, I suspect. Resurrexi
Yeah, I know, though I'm not all that clear on the mechanics of it. At the end of one's first year in the seminary, he would be ordained a porter, the next year he would be ordained a lector, the next year he would be ordained an exorcist, and the next year he would be ordained an acolyte. (N.B., though these were orders, they were not degrees of the Sacrament of Order). Perhaps instead of abrogating two of the minor orders, Pope Paul VI should have made them available to men who were not studying for the priesthood. Instead of having ushers, we could have porters at church doors on Sunday. Edited June 20, 2009 by Resurrexi
Saint Therese
Surely some spiritual measure can be taken to end this sort of thing. Perhaps the Holy Father could consecrate all of Italy especially to St.Micheal? Or perhaps perpetual adoration could be instituted. This is a spiritual war so spirittual means must be used.
