bookcloseouts.com

i've purchased lots of religious books there over the past couple of years. never paid more than 6 or 7 dollars per book.

i got "The Great Divorce" there 2 years ago for $4.99. last year i bought "God's Choice" for $4.99.

abesbooks.com is also great for cheap reads. In my undergrad days I used to get books for as low as a dollar.

what i like about bookcloseouts.com is that they are usually new books. they do have a 'scratch & dent' section, though.

They won't send above the border because of anti-dumping laws. Supposed to protect Canadian businesses.

Red, thanks for the site. It's now a favorite, slightly below Amazon, at least alphabetically.

As someone who has spent more than her fair share at Borders, cheap books are always wonderful.

In my experience, most of the "used" books on Amazon are basically in new condition... not that I would buy one to give as a gift, but most of the time I can't tell the difference. However, lately I prefer supporting a couple of favorite local bookstores over buying online anyway. After all, reading should be a social experience rather than a simple financial transaction. :)
