Amazon recruited me for something called the Vine Program, based on the quality of reviews I'd posted. Two to three times a month I get a newsletter with a bunch of stuff to pick from (mostly books, some other products too). I have to review at least 75% of what I get. Also, because of the Vine reviews, and posting reviews on my blog, some other publishing folk have started sending me books, in the hope that I'll review them. They are finally starting to get frequent enough that I have a (very small) backlog!

Nihil Obstat
I have a softcover "Essential Pope Benedict". It's so good! It's my opinion that the homily in which he refers to the "dictatorship of relativism" is one of the best homilies by anyone in the last ten years or so. jeffpugh
I've borrowed "Essential Pope Benedict". Lots of great stuff there. Was particularly interested in his essay on Sacred Music... I gotta pull that back out again. It made some insightful points in the area of the nature of music. So glad you got that book for cheap! Too bad we can't get on that site. Oh well. It's for the better, I suppose.

There's just something fun about a new book. I like used books too, sometimes, but new is my preference.

[/quote] It depends on the seller... I got 3 with free shipping... from wonderbooks And then another one, Braintree Books was 4$ no matter the number. Others had a slightly lower shipping cost for your second book... I found it relatively easy to shop around for lower shipping prices though. Well, one of the books Ratzinger's Intro to Christianity turned out not to be available after all. But I still think I got a very good deal.
