MissScripture
If a wedding is taking place during Lent, is there anything special that needs to be done, or any changes (other than the Alleluia)?
Thy Geekdom Come
From what I can see on the GIRM and USCCB website, it is not allowed to have a wedding Mass on a Sunday during Lent (although, according to the USCCB, you can have a wedding outside of Mass or, it seems, a wedding during Mass, but with only one of the readings from the Ritual of Marriage). You may also marry on a weekday during Lent. In any event, the penitential nature of Lent is to be observed (what that means exactly, the documents don't seem to say). All of this should be discussed with one's own priest well in advance, to make sure there aren't any details specific to a particular diocese or parish. God bless, Micah
