mommas_boy
I want to be enrolled in the scapular, but for now I know that I wouldn't be able to stick to the rosary well enough. I tried that as my Lenten 'fast'. I tried saying it every day. I did well for a while, but started to get lazy....... well I'm not strong enough yet. Working on it though.
A few tips, brother: [*]Try a decade a day. [*]Once you get a decade done each day without fail, add in more. But don't do them all in one sitting. Break up your day with them.
Nihil Obstat
Good suggestion......... some is better than nothing. I was trying to do it every night before bed... but I'd end up staying up too late (as usual) and at that point it would have been irresponsible of me to stay up even longer... vicious cycle. son_of_angels
Advice from a confessed slacker, Try to choose a purpose for your prayer. Why are you praying the Rosary? What is the intention? A 54 day Rosary novena could be a way to keep you focused. Same with the LOTH. Unless it's is required (and I come about as close to being required as can be without being required, seeing that I'm a Benedictine Oblate), the Divine Office is going to be an easy thing to avoid. But choose a purpose, a steady purpose, and do it for one week, or, at first, three days at a time. When you get that done obsess about doing it again. So do it again. Do it quickly. Eventually it will become a habit, and you won't want to put it down. Also, don't sin. Sin messes up religious observances. If you do sin, immediately do penance by saying your customary prayers. Then don't do it again. I try to pray five decades a day (though see above 'slacker' statement) and wear the scapular. We'll pray for each other.
