Lord Jesus Christ, our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI has given us this Year for Priests as a time of great grace. He holds up St. John Vianney as a model and patron of parish priests. By our devoted prayers and sacrifices, may we assist every priest to grow in union with You through the power of Your grace as they follow You in this exalted path as faithful witnesses.
Let us pray for the Holy Father, Fill him with your grace, Lord.
Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops, Give them wisdom, Lord.
Parish priests, encourage and sustain them, Lord.
Priests in seminary work, Give them your insight, Lord.
Priests in hospital work, Give them constancy, Lord.
Priests who are ill, Heal them, Lord.
Priests in danger, Deliver them, Lord.
Priests who are weak, Strengthen them, Lord.
Priests who are poor, Bless them, Lord.
Priests who are zealous, Guide them, Lord.
Priests who want to love you, Enkindle their hearts, Lord.
Priests who are disheartened, Console them, Lord.
Priests who are worried, Give them peace, Lord.
Priests who are old, Comfort them, Lord.
Priests who are young, Give them prudence, Lord.
Priests who are alone, Accompany them, Lord.
Missionary priests, Protect them, Lord.
Priests who are preachers, Enlighten them, Lord.
Priests who direct souls, Instruct them, Lord.
All priests who have died, Bring them to glory, Lord.
On all the Church, militant and suffering, Lord, have mercy.

Grant that there may never be lacking devoted men to take Your place at the altar proclaiming Your Gospel and offering Your Body and Blood for the salvation of the world. We pray to the Lord. All: Lord, hear our prayer.

Grant that priests will teach Your truth humbly, patiently and with the authority You have given them through the Sacrament of Holy Orders. We pray to the Lord. All: Lord, hear our prayer.

Grant that priests will sanctify Your people through their spiritual fatherhood, their faithfulness to prayer and their loving attentiveness to the celebration of the sacraments and Holy Mass. We pray to the Lord. All: Lord, hear our prayer.

Grant that priests will be true shepherds, who lead and guide Your flock with the gentle firmness of Your Sacred Heart, through the life of the Beatitudes and the virtues of St. John Vianney. We pray to the Lord. All: Lord, hear our prayer.
Leader: Heavenly Father, entrusting this Year for Priests to the Most Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, awaken in the heart of every priest a generous and renewed commitment to the ideal of complete self-offering to You and the Church. Enkindle and sustain the fervor of their hearts so they may continue to offer themselves zealously in service to You as priests and victims of Your merciful love. We ask this through Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
