the_rev
Master Altar Server, do you believe these apparations are happening, I'm thinking yes since you said it was awesome. The thing is I don't wanna say, O that isn't happening and then if it was, Mary may be awfully upset, for not believing in her apparations. That is all. CatholicCrusader
I didn't read all the posts, but I read most of them on the first page and all on the last page. I didn't see any mention of the fact that the Church has condemned (both the Pope and the local Ordinary) Medjegorje. The apparitions are clearly false if you merely look at the message that is supposidly being sent out by Our Lady. One supposed "apparition" had Our Lady saying that "My Son loves all religions equally." That is enough proof that these are false apparitions...that is in direct conflict with a Dogma of the Church (Outside the Church no salvation) as well as numerous others. Also, not one of the four criteria for judging an apparition is fulfilled. Actually, it is the stark OPPOSITE for Medjegorje. Also, there have been some 20,000 "apparitions"...look to Fatima, Lourdes, etc. These all had small occurences. They were 5, 6, 9, maybe--never 20,000...that is unprecedented. It is clear that we should not follow these false apparitions. Yes, it is better to believe and have them proved wrong than to not believe and have them be true; however the Church has already condemned these false apparitions based upon the false beliefs that flow from them. Therefore, we should completely shun these appartitions just as we would a heresy or a schism of Holy Mother CHurch. God bless.

Lounge Daddy
I have found nothing stating that says the Church has discouraged this - except by one Bishop who has had distaste for this from the beginning. I would think that the Church denouncing something this big would make big news and at least make headlines at EWTN.

popestpiusx
I have found nothing stating that says the Church has discouraged this - except by one Bishop who has had distaste for this from the beginning. I would think that the Church denouncing something this big would make big news and at least make headlines at EWTN.
Since this was obviously ignored I will post it again: SACRED CONGREGATION FOR THE DOCTRINE OF THE FAITH Vatican City, March 23, 1996, Prot. No. 154/81-01985 Your Excellency, In your letter of February 14, 1996 you inquired what is the present position of the Church regarding the alleged "apparitions in Medjugorje" and whether it is permitted to the Catholic faith to go there for pilgrimage. In reference to that it is my honour to make known to you that, regarding the authenticity of the apparitions in question, the Bishops of the former Yugoslavia confirmed in their Declaration of April 10, 1991 published in Zadar: “On the basis of investigation up till now it cannot be established that one is dealing with supernatural apparitions and revelations. However, the numerous gatherings of the faithful from different parts of the world, who are coming to Medjugorje prompted both by motives of belief and certain other motives, require the attention and pastoral care in the first place of the bishop of the diocese and of the other bishops with him so that in Medjugorje and everything related to it a healthy devotion toward the Blessed Virgin Mary would be promoted in conformity with the teaching of the Church.. For that purpose the bishops shall issue separate appropriate liturgical-pastoral directives. Likewise by means of their Commission they shall further follow and investigate the total event in Medjugorje.” The result from this in what is precisely said is that official pilgrimages to Medjugorje, understood as a place of authentic Marian apparitions, are not permitted to be organized either on the parish or on the diocesan level, because that would be in contradiction to what the Bishops of former Yugoslavia affirmed in their aforementioned Declaration. Kindly accept, your Excellency, an expression of my profoundly devoted affection! + Tarcisio Bertone One Bishop??? How about the entire bishops conference of Yugoslavia AND the CDF.
