From an AP story:
A U.S. military helicopter crashed Monday while returning from the scene of a firefight with suspected Taliban drug traffickers in western Afghanistan, killing 10 Americans including three DEA agents in a not-so-noticed war within a war.

Four more troops were killed when two helicopters collided over southern Afghanistan, making it the deadliest day for U.S. forces in this country in more than four years.
October has been the worst month ever in the Afghan war. :sadder: Ironic given the man in charge, Obama, ran strongly on the point of improving and winning the Afghan war. :ohno:

Some Catholics from my parish voted for the man, so I had to ask them about it. They were lead to believe that he was the "anti-war candidate." Too bad.

That's funny, I believe a lot of his voters were under the impression that his platform was ENDING the war. I know that I personally (who didn't vote for him) knew of only one thing that may have changed my opinion of him; all troops of any sort out of Middle-Easter countries the first morning he was in office. Period. No...more...war.

What a liar this man is.

22,000troops out, war spending cut 30million in Iraq. as far as i remember his platform was to put Iraq on a timetable and start focusing on afghanistan, which sounds like its happening.

Troop withdrawal was taking place under Bush as his 2nd plan began bearing fruit. Troop levels under Bush peaked at 170,000 and fell to a little under 140,000. Bush's withdrawal was goal driven as opposed to Obama's which is time table driven and selected via a dart board (Remember the changing months during the campaign?). If progress stayed the course, we would have had minimal forces in Iraq 15 months passed inauguration day anyway.

If October is an example of Obama's focusing on Afghanistan, he might want to get a new set of glasses. The picture isn't looking too good. We'll see what his plan is... eventually.

If what is happening in Afghanistan were happening here, you, too, would be dropping rounds on groups like the Taliban, in addition to foreign invaders.

Umm, it did happen here. They dropped 4 really big bombs on America. Did you miss it? They were shaped like airplanes and dropped on 9/11. Two took out the Word Trade Center. One damaged the Pentagon. The last missed its target. So forgive us for working to defeat the Taliban, the sponsors of the terrorist group that attacked us.

Jesus_lol, we're talking about a current war, not Vietnam. I'm pretty sure we haven't dropped Agent Orange in Afghanistan.

My oh my, where has our education system gone wrong? Americans thinking the worst of America.

That was a question to the general audience, not to any particular one person. But, yes, the question could be expanded to international range. What has happened to the education systems where people think the worst of America?
