Hey guyz. In this, include the name of your Diocese and the name of your Diocese's Cathedral. OK...lemme start...

The Cathedral of Saint Patrick in the Diocese of New York is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to in my life! St. Patrick's Cathedral is the largest Catholic Gothic-Style Church in America and takes up a whole New York City block! If anyone happens to visit NYC - please visit the Cathedral! It's an amazing experience. The architecture and art and overall atmosphere is amazing. If you do decide on visiting...here's a tip: go in the morning before the Masses start...then is when you can walk around freely and see the whole entire place...and then wait for the first Mass.

Write back with your Cathedrals ppl...just in case I end up in your neck of the woods!

St Patricks Church across the river here is modeled after St Patricks Cathedral in New York, it's just a smaller version and was built at the turn of the last century. At one time they thought our city would be the Capital of Alberta, ... oops! who knew?

Our Diocese is Calgary and our Cathedral is St Mary's, a beautifull structure but doesn't hold a candle to St Pat's here (IMHO).

Peace, Ken

I haven't been to it yet, but the LA Cathedral in CA, I hear it's pretty un-Catholic. $200 million. My Priest went there, and he said that after communion there is a second line that you stand in. At the front of the line, you recieve....parking validation. You can get your ticket validated if you go to Mass there. The Sculptor who did the main Mary sculpture called her "the goddess" in an interview. You can pay top money, even if you're not Catholic, and be buried on the grounds. Sorry, for the downer. Let's hear about more good Cathedrals. =)

Ceasar,
I lived in New York for many years before I moved to Colorado, Saint Patricks will always have a special place in my heart. It is the most beautiful church I have ever seen. I had the good fortune to meet His Emminence John Cardinal O'Connor on two separate occasions. I respected him and miss him greatly. (May he rest in peace)

I live in the archdiocese of Denver now and the catherdral is
Called: Cathderal of the Immaculate Conception. I love our Archbishop, Charles Chaput O.F. M. He is a really wonderful bishop and priest.

St Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, San Francisco

Very modern, criticized by many, unlike any cathedral or church I have ever seen. However, its size, simplicity and majesty are very conducive to prayer. The white marble interior is warmed and softened by the eight bronze sculptures around the inner perimiter, representing different scenes in the Life of our Blessed Lady. Many tour buses stop there, and I hope that some of the visitors are moved to prayer by this contemporary testament to the continuing life and growth of the Church in our modern world.

I am totally annoyed I cannot find a decent picture of St Paul's Cathedral in Pgh.
Guess I will have to go take some pictures myself.
It is lovely, since our Bishop does not permit wreckovation here.
:(

It isn't as large as most cathedrals, but still pretty.
