I am hoping to get a mantilla before I go overseas this summer, just in case I end up going to a church where I need one. Where do you all suggest I find one?

CRAZY DOPE POST, YO!

there is an older gentleman at my parish who passes out mantillas to all the women free of charge. they are very beautiful. he handed one to me and asked me to always wear it, no matter what. I wanted to give him a donation, but he would not accept any money from anyone...

You don't need to go overseas to wear a mantilla. Wear one every time you go to church. :)

A friend has a veil business, www.veilsandmantillas.com - I just ordered one from her, in fact. :) Her prices are the best I have found for the quality of the veil.

Also www.garlandsofgrace.com has some unique head coverings too.

One time my Lutheran grandparents were on a tour of Europe to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, and they stopped at some gorgeous church. My grandmother was one of the few ladies that brought a headscarf with her, and thus could go in the church, because the tour guide forgot to inform them that they might need a mantilla-like garment. The funny part was that most of the ladies that didn't bring one were Catholic.

<-- continues to have nothing substantial to add to help out the OP, but likes following links to pretty mantillas.

I'm *hoping* to make my own mantilla :) Etsy, veilsbylily and RosaMystica Mantillas all have pretty, relatively affordable things.

By all means, check out Garlands of Grace, but just as a note of intormation: in the past they've publicly professed anti-Catholicism. I was considering them myself, but was turned away when I discovered what they had said about Catholics. Quite unfortunate, really, as a lot of their stuff is lovely. Just be discerning :)

My wife went to http://www.veilsbylily.com/

Her first order was one from aquinas and more.com which resells St. Francis veils (or something close to that). They did not sent what she ordered and it was not as soft as the Veils by Lily. She does not recommend that brand.

From everything I've heard about your wife, she sounds amesome. Why is she not on PM? You should get her to join, too. :)

She finally did after a while of me talking about some threads with her, http://www.phatmass....4272-papistwyf/

I know she'd love and would be a good addition to the raising small humans phorum.

I love http://www.headcover...h.com/home.html She does some mantillas but I love her little head scarves as they're very discreet. I've had my black one for nearly a year now.

You should help her out more around the house so she has more time to be on here. :harhar:

New question: what length is the best? I'm so new to mantillas I have NO idea what type to get and which are the best.
