Why waste it on a book by "Catholics" causing strife in the Church when one could spend a lifetime reading the writings of the saints, and other good things to deepen one's faith and love of God, and never exhaust what we have available to us? Cmom, like many other parents and well phatmassers in general, only have so much time to devote to reading, so why would she read something by an author she would have no interest in because of their views?
Lots of reasons. For instance, one might want to become a senator, president, ambassador to the Vatican, etc. This is much easier if one is Catholic (well, "Catholic", anyway. Forreal Catholics get branded bigots, hate mongers, and rights-strippers). Edited October 29, 2009 by USAirwaysIHS

Apotheoun
The authors of the book advocate compromise on the abortion issue, and I could never do that in good conscience as a Catholic.

The book does not appear to be all that Catholic; rather, it appears to be more of a Democratic Party text than a Catholic one.
Yes, rather then using our time and resources on simply making the practice illegal- which will proabably be like the Prohibition- we do need to focus on things that do lower the number of women who find this unthinkable act desirable for themselves.
