I was in our big Catholic book store today, and they put in a whole DVD section. I wanted one of each. My husband had to drag me out of there by my ears. It had every movie you guys have mentioned, plus all these sacramental prep ones. It was like going into a candy store.

Netflix has a bunch of the movies mentioned, including Francis & Clare avail. online to watch.
So after, I ordered some movies mentioned on here to watch. SO Excited!!

Of course - I didn't even think about Into Great Silence!!

Also, I haven't watched it yet, but The Human Experience looks like its a good one on Vocation.

Where can I find "beloved", I've watched a clip but I'm not sure if it was the whole thing or some kind of trailer.

Hi Hilde, yes, you probably saw a trailer of it. The actual DVD is about an hour long, I think, and I don't believe that anything other than the trailer has been posted online. Below is a link through which you can order (or just find out more about ) Beloved.

I really enjoyed watching Teresa of the Andes. It's all in espanol with subtitles, but it was a great mini-series of an equally wonderful Chilean saint.

Dear His Child,
Where did you find this movie? I cannot seem to find it anywhere online.

Blessings.

You might be able to find it through Ignatius Press. They recently re-released the movie from their productions.
The original version is in 6 segments and in VHS.

Ave Maria Totus Tuus

So this thread is making me want to get a free trial of Netflix just so I can go through all the movies and decide which ones I want to own! :D

For these movies that are also books, which of the books would you recommend (especially if they're better than the movie)? I caught someone already talking about "In This House of Brede" as being a very good book....I'm all ears!

I second on Beloved, Don Bosco, The Trouble with Angels, and The Sound of Music!

AND Into Great Silence is awesome! Just don't watch it if you're tired and/or it's dark in the room...it is extremely interesting, but the whole film is basically silence since the monks live in silence...it can make you a bit drowsy, especially if you're already kinda tired!

Hmmm... I didn't really care for "In This House of Brede." To me, the nuns were all about preserving Brede Abbey more than becoming saints/spouses of Christ. It might be a good movie to show to new candidates, as a way of guiding them from forming inappropriate (by that I mean co-dependant) relationships with other religious. It's a natural tendency to try to substitute something you are giving up with something else - like the younger sister needing a mother figure, and the older sister missing her former life. At least they perservered!

I just watched The 13 Day - SUCH a good movie for vocations! Its from the perspective of Lucia. So beautiful.

Started watching, "St Francis of Assisi" and my little bro kept complaining I was making the internet lag :( (I was watching it from netflix) but it was getting REALLY good!!

DEFINITELY just got a Netflix free 2-week trial so I can watch all these movies! Tonight will be "Going My Way" with Bing Crosby via streaming Netflix online.

This is so legit!
