Come on. It's a sign from the heavens.
Well, isn't that con-VEEEEN-ient? Similar to... SANTA vs. SATAN!?!
CatherineM Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 My main interest is the party. We're expecting in the neighborhood of 35 people. We're burning our mortgage at half-time, so we may have some firemen for the second half.
True, true. Don't mind me -- only being a bit cheeky (and channeling in some Church Lady). I'm actually not sure yet which team I'll be cheering for, but at least I do plan on watching! JimR-OCDS Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Well I watched both championship games yesterday, and I have to say, it will be another AFC Super Bowl win this year. The Colts. Jim

Which team has a commercial where the mascot kneels in front of a priest and gets a blessing? Which team's quarterback comes to a city and says he feels that God put him there to help re-energize a city that needed to be believed in when they had nothing? Which team's coach came in when their stadium had holes in the roof and had water damage? Which team was founded on All Saints Day and makes no attempt to hide the fact that its name is a reference to the Catholic heritage of a city? That's right. Now which team are you going to cheer for in their first Superbowl ever since their establishment as an organization in 1966 (even though technically they didn't field a team until '67)?
I'm going to have to go with the boys in blue (our lady's color) There's a ton of priests, nuns, and bishops at our games too.
Also only one letter off from Colts vs. Aints. Silly Raph. Your optimism is endearing, though. A proud Hoosier here.
haha win. (go Hoosiers, by the way. We're pretty much awesome)
brightsadness Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Jazz, beignets, come on. I love New Orleans.
eagle_eye222001 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Probably the Colts. They did beat the Patriots a couple years back!
Nihil Obstat Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 What are they scheduling at halftime again?
havok579257 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 COLTS for the win and Peyton Manning secures his spot as the greatest QB of all time.

Ave Maria Totus Tuus Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tom Benson (the Saints owner) has Mass in the Superdome for team staff and players on Sunday mornings before home games, and I heard that recently they have been celebrated by the Archbishop. AND Mr. Benson is a huge donor to many legit things in the Church, to include the Nashville Dominicans. All New Orleanians have a certain affection for Peyton Manning, due to his father Archie and what he did for the city and the team, as well as because Peyton and Eli grew up in New Orleans. But the home team comes first. Even if the Colts are statistically the better team (or whatever banter is said by the talking heads), the Saints will win this game. It's our destiny this year. It's about more than football. The Saints will come marching in to Miami ready to win, and they will march home to New Orleans with a Lombardi Trophy.

The Saints were already my second favorite team, based on the name, but that bit of knowledge definitely secures that spot (they'll never trump my colts, though )

I didn't know that either. I was wondering how Benson was able to convince the Archbishop to come to the game. I didn't know they had mass their either. SHWEET!

No doubt about it. Montana will still be the greatest comeback qb of all time but Peyton will go down as the overall greatest qb ever. His body of work is/will be above everyone else.
