Blogs About Discerning The Religious Life?

Hilde

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if there were some orthodox, informative and inspiring blogs out there about discerning. I know there are communities that have their own blogs, and that's cute and all, but what I'm really looking for are blogs that goes deeper into the discerning process, or the life as a nun or sister or something like that too.

I don't know if there are any orthodox ones, but I have seen one blog that seems to have a somewhat liberal/progressive few of the religious vocation and the discernment process. :( I wouldn't recommend that one personally, though I would think that the intentions of the blogger are good.

However, if anyone else has some that fit Hilde's description, I would love to read them, too!

Holy Vocations Blog consists of people discerning vocations to the religious life. There are people here that are thinking of the priesthood and those that are thinking of becoming nuns or religious sisters. If you are discerning a vocation to be a priest, nun, religious sister, monk, or consecrated virgin or if you are currently in formation, then I invite you to join this blog. All members of this blog are completely faithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. We each pledge our loyalty and obedience to the Pope, the Vicar of Jesus Christ, and adhere to all the rules and regulations of the Catholic Faith, which have been taught and passed down to the Faithful through the past generations. We have read and support the Oath Against Modernism by Pope St. Pius X. All of us are spiritually united in our devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Eucharist, and the Communion of Saints. Just a word of caution on the holy vocations blog... it does seem very solid, but they do list the SSPX on their list of vocations for men... which may mean there are some other communities listed that are not in communion with the Church.

I would like to start a blog but my conscience hold it back. The general council of the congregation which I will arise, has called a halt on facebook and other public accounts because of problems that have occurred.

Wow.. I didn't know that. Perhaps they did so out of prudence?

When did the General Council make that decision?

Hmm...

Very interesting, nonetheless.

At least you can keep your own private diary/journal? :)

You could check out my blog, I'm discerning right now and it's one topic that comes up. I'm interested in the Daughters of St. Paul.

I would like to but I'm not doing it out of respect for the congregation to which I will belong. I heard from my sisters, it is two to three months ago that they have said. Then in response, most sisters, their facebook / block profiles removed.

There had been problems, which problems, I do not know. You will always be responsible with what you put on the Internet.

Thank you for your response, Muus. I think your decision is quite noble -- and a very good preparation for when you do enter! :saint:
