dauntingknight Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Phatmass, Update 1.1 eagle_eye has been at the hospital all day. When my mom went into surgery they found the problem and it turned out to be much bigger than they anticipated, they got it taken care of even though they almost lost her on the table.... Thankfully she pulled through and is in a 24 hour ICU. We are not out of the tunnel yet but we see light. Keep praying dauntingknight
eagle_eye222001 Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 Just got back from being at the hospital all day. Just to elaborate on what dauntingknight said, there was a tear on a main artery that was short when they started, but it quickly grew much longer, and the surgeon literally said "we almost lost her." This has turned into a much more serious issue as we originally had no surgery with my mom coming home today or tomorrow but this has turned into open-heart surgery and almost losing her on the table and we are looking at a long recovery with an immediate couple days in ICU. Thank you again for all your prayers. The shock of what has happened to our mom has not fully set-in, as we are fully shocked she had a heart attack much less open heart surgery and almost losing her this afternoon. My family is receiving a lot of help from family and friends and we are getting dumped with food, prayers, and offers of help. Thank you God for all these people!
elizabeth09 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 (Crying for Happiness) Thank you so much, phatmass, we are seeing more light now. No updates yet, been at the hospital for 6 hours, and seen my mom only for 1 min.
Christie_M Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Continued payers, guys. I'll say my Rosary for her recovery tonight.
dauntingknight Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Update 1.3 Our mom is recovering well and we received a surprise phone call from our mother this morning and she was weak but sounded good. When my dad talked to the surgeon who operated on my mom he said that there is little muscle damage to the heart and in 3 to 6 months she can go back to riding roller coasters. She does have high cholesteral and she is going to need to change her lifestyle a little bit but overall we are very fortunate to still have her in the condition she is in today. If surgery was pushed by a day it would've been too late. We love you mom dauntingknight
