Era Might Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Is there a topic question that you want people to respond to?

The Church will not baptize a child if the parents are not Catholic or do not submit to Mother Church, this policy of this Archdiocese bares the same idea. The same reasoning that does not allow a child to be baptized to non-catholic parents.
CatherineM Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I wish the Catholic schools in St. Pete adhered to that. Our parish school was 75% non-Catholics, because it was too expensive for most of the parishioners.

[/quote] are you saying that this school that was 75% non-Catholics is bad? it is you are who is misguided, my brother did Jesus spend his time with sinners or the saved, the non-Catholic parents are helping there children grow in the grace of true faith. how can this be wrong?
CatherineM Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 The catholic schools in St. Pete aren't attended by non-catholics because their parents want them to get an education that increases their faith. They are simply the dumping grounds for rich kids whose parents don't want them to attend school with minorities. When bussing began, the Catholic schools were overrun, so they increased tuition two to threes times as much partially because they could, and partially to meet the demands on the curriculum placed by rich parents. My obtuse point was that if these kinds of rules were in place, most of those "white-flight" kids would have been weeded out, and maybe the tuition could have come down to a level that poorer Catholic could afford.
