I have removed last names and locations because of the public nature of the board Hello Pastor Tim, *snip*
A charitable, yet firm response to what was said in the podcast Father. You didn't even succumb to the easiest of temptations, that of pointing out they failed to spell the word "series" right at the top of their podcast download link. I hope the meeting goes well.

But we can still pray for conversion to the True Church! Go get some souls for Christ, Fr. Brian!

Up until now, we really did not see them as much of a threat, that is, until they started doing a Q&A on Catholicism. You can find the misrepresentation of Scripture, Tradition and Mary here http://internetcampus.liquidchurch.com/pages/page.asp?page_id=101709 I am going to be meeting with him later on this month God Bless Fr. Brian
Fr. Brian, I'm also curious how your meeting went. This definitely looks like an "emerging church," though I gotta say, emerging churches usually distinguish themselves from Catholic churches by paying for excellent web design. Their site is unimpressive... I'm pretty sure it's a template where they just filled in the blanks with words and random pictures from the "Religion and Inspiration" category Obviously I can't speak for this particular pastor, but generally the Emerging Church brand of Evangelicalism to be more open to certain aspects of Catholic tradition, like the Daily Office, Lectio Divina, and even monasticism. I was just checking out some web sites for churches in the Seattle area and ran across a single congregation that is both Episcopal and Lutheran, plus they're affiliated with an emerging church network (most emerging churches are Baptist/Reformed in theology). So for Catholics, especially pastors, I believe there's an opportunity today to take advantage of Evangelicals' interest in some Catholic practices in order to begin building some real unity among non-Catholic Christians. There are, after all, a lot of "raised Catholic" folks in these communities and we have an obligation to pastor them in any way possible. Jason
Ephrem Augustine Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Well the meeting is this coming tuesday, that's why i keep checking up on this. I was studying Canon Law the other day, and I came across this:
Can. 771 §1. Pastors of souls, especially bishops and pastors, are to be concerned that the word of God is also proclaimed to those of the faithful who because of the condition of their life do not have suYcient common and ordinary pastoral care or lack it completely. §2. They are also to make provision that the message of the gospel reaches non-believers living in the territory since the care of souls must also extend to them no less than to the faithful.
I guess I kind of thought this applied, that you were being a good pastor, making sure that the word of God, and our Tradition is approached accurately. Great job, I will definitely be praying for you.

homeschoolmom Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Isn't it better to have a solid church than a liquid one?

Theologian in Training Posted March 16, 2010 Author Posted March 16, 2010 It went well. I talked with him for 3hrs. He educated me and I educated him. He seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say and took my "corrections" fairly well. He will be speaking on Purgatory this weekend, so I lent him Patrick Madrid's "Any Friend of God is a Friend of Mine." I enjoyed the meeting and he told me he learned a lot, but now it is in God's hands. I just pray that he represents Catholicism in a less simplistic light now and that he takes, at least, some of what I said to heart. Thank you all for the prayers and support!
Brother Adam Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 It would have been more classy if he invited you to speak at his church. If I want to do a series specifically called Q&A on Baptists, I'm going to invite a baptist pastor to speak.
