Germany played beautiful soccer.

It was interesting to watch the Argentina/Mexico match. The Latin Americans play a different style. Quick, dynamic, slashing. Germany-Argentina should be interesting to watch. Other than that Spain/Portugal should be interesting.

boy yesterday was quite eventful. Lampard for England had a goal vs Germany, referee didn't give it, Argentina's Carlos Tevez was offside but the goal counted. Neither really mattered though at the end.

I kind of like a little controversy though, and seeing how the teams respond when something doesn't go their way. Obviously England and Mexico weren't able to shake it off. football doesn't need technology :)

I can understand the joy at seeing a country such as Ghana performing so well in the World Cup, particularly for a Cup hosted in Africa.

My biggest reason for wanting America to succeed in this particular World Cup? The sport was finally just beginning to show genuine promise in terms of viewership here in the States. I've been wanting the sport to catch on en masse in this country for years, and it was starting to do so - USA/England, a game airing early Saturday, actually delivered ratings comparable to a regular season NFL game! But by losing to a lower-profile country such as Ghana just past group play, it's almost certainly going to deliver a huge dent to popularity of the sport here in the States.

More interest in soccer at a professional level would have meant better television placement for the global-oriented leagues, and perhaps an increase in the quality at the national (MLS) level. With the national ego crushed, though, suddenly the interest at least partially deflates.

All the best to Ghana though. With the two nations I'd otherwise be inclined to root for (US, England) now out of it, I'll likely back them in the Cup for much the same reasoning discussed earlier.

Brazil looking good as always. Not sure if Holland will have any sort of a real chance to beat Brazil, but I will be cheering for the underdog even if the country has become a cesspool

Though which country hasnt?

At this point my prediction is whoever wins the Argentina-Germany match wins the World Cup. I think that one will be momentous.

Germany lost :sadder:

They let the Spaniards play their game. Just let them.

:ohno:

The header goal by the Spaniard was amazing though. He flew. Spain proved better they deserve it.

ugly game. I thought the Dutch played dirty and if it werent for so many fouls they would have scored sooner. The goal was awesome. Lethal. They are the champions. They put together a great team.
