Of course the trick is most older cars that still have a lot of life left and don't cost very much also usually don't have working air conditioning...

My dad told me the rule of thumb for an older car is you should expect to pay about $1,000 a year to keep it in good running condition, regardless of the value of the car. You could either stay with the one you have, or if you think it's more trouble than it's worth, buy a more reliable brand but still expect to pay about that much a year in maintenance. My 93 Honda Accord has 280,000 miles on it and it's still going strong with that principle.

Theoketos, thanks for the offer, but we need to buy a car. It's not just the trip that's at stake. We need a car to replace our explorer permanently.

I'm pretty pleased with the Dodge Caliber. Seems to have a great safety rating and it's affordable. Now to see how soon we can get it.

Particularly, Monday's tournament of Champions episode was all about the Holy Land and Biblical imagery etc. Anyone on phatmass would have wiped up. I think I had 93 000 points at the end.

While I am one of those toilet paper using phools, I didn't give you the -1. I assumed that you meant that it was mean of Obama to squash down perfectly good cars pulling thousands of affordable used cars out of the market, and depleting the supply of such cars for families like Raphael's.
