(It was one of those hematite beaded necklaces with a hematite cross and silver corpus.) The first words out of my mouth that morning were a very panicked, "I'VE LOST JESUS!!!" Then an exasperated, "Hey roomie, can you help me find Jesus? Please?" Her response: Uh... suuure.
Cherie Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010
This is one of my usual dumb questions......How do you keep a scapular from showing through your clothes?
Most of the time, you can't actually see the square fabric through your clothing...the problem is usually with the string peeking out on the sides. Mine has a long string, but it still sometimes peeks out around the neckline of whatever I happen to be wearing. Honestly, I don't mind it - and if anyone asks, "What's that?" (Which is a question I got a lot when I was in High School) it was a great opportunity to evangelize about the brown scapular. To me, I think it's a beautiful thing to see someone's scapular string (of course, these are people wearing modest clothing, where the string sometimes shows by the collar or something) -- my old one that I wore in the convent broke a while ago, and there weren't any Catholic bookstores nearby, so I didn't get a replacement for a while. Then I saw a picture of one of my friends on Facebook, and you could see her scapular string -- and it really inspired me to travel the hour to the nearest Catholic bookstore and buy another one!

The scapular has a tiny iny benny medal and crucifix, so they don't make bumps under my shirt.
Hey, my scapular has the same thing! I bet we have the same one...

CatherineM Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 You can get plastic liners for wedding rings when that happens.
How awful to be allergic to your wedding ring!!! Is it gold? Usually gold is good for allergies. I've never heard whether platinum is good for allergies or not. I'm allergic to silver, which is too bad because I like the color of silver. I know this isn't ideal, but if you could find a non-allergic metal, you could always get a second wedding ring, have it blessed by your priest, and call it an anniversary ring (but wear it on your left hand as your wedding ring).
