LOL "my" Carmel :hehe: I know what you mean i'm just amused that's all. That compilation of Carmels is sooooo.... *happy sigh*. It's nice to know that places like that exist on Earth even if they never let me in, or more likely kick me out after three days

Aw c'mon, let's keep a positive thought here - I don't think nuns are allowed to kick.

A priest friend of mine is up at the Elysburg Carmel for their celebration and he posted these two pictures:

The sacristy:

How nice. I will be going on a discernment visit there at the end of this month. It will also be my first Traditional Latin Mass; i'm very much looking forward to it.

I very much like the partition between the altar and the congregation. It's like it should be--the altar is Heaven, and the Congregation is earth. :)

While I am grateful for the liturgical reforms of the later 20th century, I do keep remembering that one of my grandfather's relatives had a heart attack and died while kneeling at the communion rail on Christmas morning.

(And so I guess she was one of my relatives too but it's too many "great"s to work through coherently ...)

Wow. What a way to go!

Thanks for this thread! So many of these are rare pix of different Carmels. I thought I'd add that, if anyone is seeing For Greater Glory (and I highly recommend it!), the Dallas Carmel was founded by a Mexican Carmelite nun fleeing the Mexican socialist government, which is the basic story of the movie.
