It is a distinction that Pope Benedict made in connection with the two versions of the Roman Missal (See [url="http://www.ewtn.com/library/papaldoc/b16summorumpontificum.htm"]Summorum Pontificum[/url]). The Ordinary Form is the celebration of the Roman mass according to the modern missal composed in the late 1960s, while the Extraordinary Form involves the celebration of the mass according to the older missal codified after the close of the Council of Trent by Pope St. Pius V.

Not so new any more, but still wide-eyed and innocent. Or maybe I've been transported to an alternate universe where my perceptions have been reversed, but since I can perceive only in this new way, I don't realize the... you see the problem, don't you?
