Weeeeeelllll, maybe mandatory is a bit stiff. When I was converting, I thought that the beards were a little scary. (Men weren't allowed to have facial hair where I came from.) Now I think they're grand...and I have one! haha Still, I think heads of orders probably have bigger battles to fight than whether their priests have facial hair. :-)

I'm tentatively growing the short boxed beard, I'd like to get it like the ones these fine gentlemen are sporting, goes well with the lack of hair on my scalp, but I'm not sure if I will make it that far before the razor finds my face for one reason or another.

I don't want to know how Matt would look with a beard. I don't like them. My dad had a beard off and on my whole life (some scarier than others). I can't tell you the number of times he'd corner us and give us whisker burn. Matt doesn't like beards, either, though, so we're on the same page. lol I think he'd look weird with it

So...I used to date a guy who really liked sideburns. When he was in college, he kinda experimented with them a bit, and for awhile he sported the 'friendly mutton chops' look. Except not so neat....

One the plus side, I didn't have to worry about any other girls taking an interest in him

He shaved it off when his friend's girlfriend told him how silly it looked. His wife now requires him to keep neatly trimmed modest sideburns.
