Lil Red Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I'm looking for good Catholic magazines. ideas? America and National Catholic Distorter need not apply.
TeresaBenedicta Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Definitely almost said 'Ensign', but that's the Mormon one. But 'Envoy' is an excellent Catholic magazine.
Socrates Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 This Rock, Homiletic & Pastoral Review, The Wanderer (newspaper), Inside the Vatican, Catholic World Report
Nihil Obstat Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 The Remnant? I actually don't know much about it, so I'm not willing to believe those who accuse it of being either a hate group or too radical until I've read it myself.

CatholicCulture's review of their website: The Remnant Newspaper. Read The Wanderer instead (from which it broke away from).
You trust CatholicCulture? I'm slowly perusing The Remnant right now, and I will let you know if I find anything extremely objectionable.
Mr.Cat Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011
Columbia?
If I recall this is the Knights of Columbus' magazine? I do enjoy their publication, its something nice to flip through and easy reading. Since the passing of my father they have continued our subscription indefinitely, which was very kind of them. They invited me multiple times to join but... I suspect I would feel out of place.
Lil Red Posted March 1, 2011 Author Posted March 1, 2011 totally forgot about This Rock! i think i will subscribe to them and First Things.
Cherie Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Along this line, are there any Catholic parenting magazines, along the lines of magazines like Parenting, Baby Talk, American Baby, but for Catholics? Because if there aren't I think it would be an amesome thing to start up! From what I remember, Faith & Family was pretty good.
Nihil Obstat Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 The Remnant portrays Austrian economics as un-Catholic, about which I disagree.
EcceNovaFacioOmni Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) First Things is ecumenical, having been founded by the late Fr. Richard John Neuhaus when he was still a Lutheran, and retaining it's ecumenical character after he converted to Catholicism. It's almost all Catholic and high-church Protestant commentary on culture, politics, etc. Best magazine there is. http://www.firstthings.com/ Edited March 2, 2011 by thedude
