I have to say, I really love the symbolism of the new novices in bridal gowns before being clothed in the religious habit. I wonder, though, if they bring a wedding gown with them when they enter, or if they are donated to the order and are reused? :)

Very true. My sisters used to have the sisters come in in bridal gowns for final profession (in their old community) but I don't know if they will keep this tradition with the new community. Next year, two sisters will make final professions; we'll see if they kept it or not.

They look so young to be professing final(?) vows. Beautiful, but oh so young.

They still look so young or is it that I am that old? lol

I wish them all the best and it was a beautiful ceremony and causes me to long for the day when it will be me and I get my pretty, pretty white habit and take those vows. How my heart fills with joy when I think about it.

Emilier,

I think you and I are just mature.

I think it's probably a combination of some of them being young (I think you can enter there at 17 or 18, and take first vows soon after, either 1 or 2 years. I don't know how long their novitiate is.) and them being VERY happy. Some nuns just look really young, sometimes the habit does that.

Thank you for that. I swear the kids look younger and younger every year.

I have a statue of the Blessed Mother that looks pretty much exactly like that.

So lovely!

That too. The novice directress in my community does not look her age at all. In fact, you can take about 15-20 years off of her age and she will pass without a second look from anyone.
