Does anyone know where I could find a link to the Rule of saint Benedict online.

I have only read a little and I adore it, I also want to add some of it into my vocational discernment as religious reading.

why wont I buy it? Because I'm cheap like that :like:

I'm assuming you don't want the Latin version, so here is the English translation, Rule of St. Benedict

If you want to listen to the Rule read each day as it is in Benedictine communities, we post a daily audio file Rule of St Benedict (see sidebar: Rule Box).

I've always been somewhat intrigued by Benedictines, but am mostly confused by the Rule. Especially when people say it works for people outside of monasteries - I have a hard time seeing how, since it's so focused on the life of a monk.

And I remember reading a section in there about how a good monk isn't quick to laugh... and I thought, "Well, that's definitely not me!" Especially since I'm clumsy and have to laugh at myself a lot.

How does a Benedictine interpret that? And then there's some stuff in there about corporal punishment of monks who do something wrong, I think...

Anyways, since this is a thread about the Rule of St. Benedict, I would love if some Phatmass Benedictines could help explain it. :dunce:
