Sarah147 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 I have no interest in having my own facebook or similar sites. I don't like that it's sort of a privacy invasion; I'm pretty sure that few would visit my page; I'm sure I'd end up deleting it not long after opening it; and I don't want to get too caught up in socializing and chitter chatter as it can be an obstacle to growing in prayer. But even having said all of that, one day I just may try it out of curiousity.

[/quote] Unfortunately, Facebook has blocked all non-registered traffic. It's because of privacy concerns on the part of the president/CEO. Many people were complaining that they were getting spammed. If you want to register but don't want to give your real name, do what I did and sign up with a nickname and a patron saint as your last name. They have a lot of privacy options now so you don't have to worry about someone finding you if you are worried. I never put my real picture on the profile, either.

[/quote] LOL, on my regular Facebook, I only have 24 friends who I never talk to online. They are all part of my young adult group and I don't know them very well since I don't attend that often at all since it is on the other side of town. The only two people I know pretty well are a girl that goes to my Church who moved to Louisiana for the Naval Reserves and my sister. I keep trying to delete it but then I get it back a day later. What do they use it for? [/quote] They use it to send you email alerts (if you don't turn those off) when someone posts to your wall, sends you a private message, etc. (Phatmass does the same.) You can hide your email address.
